We left Menai Bridge in beautiful sunshine but arrived at the west coast in thick fog! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE fog, but after a busy day in my gallery whilst everyone else was enjoying the rare good weather, I was hungry for a warm, sunny swim!
The tide was far out and the usual sandy walk into the sea was an obstacle course of boulders and seaweed. I was wearing my swim shoes as always but I was also wearing another old shorty of mine, and it was just so restrictive that I struggled to swim. It has XXL labelled on it but that must be for XXL kids not adults lol
I swam out over the rocky section and wonderfully, found myself over clear sand again, and in blazing sunshine, the fog seemed to have rapidly disappeared. I continued to swim away from shore over dozens and dozens of small waves and soon I was beyond the little cove. On the horizon I saw a thick bank of white fog reforming and slowly drawing closer.
It hasn’t happened for a while, but being out of the cove in deep water, I started to have negative thoughts about big seals turning ups, and I spooked myself! In any case I was struggling to swim in that tight shorty so I cut the swim short and left the coast. Must be one of the shortest “swim days” of my life.
